Slow Hike

  • Eau Claire Dells P2150 County Road Y Aniwa, WI, 54408 United States (map)

Join Slow Food Marathon County on Sunday morning, October 8th, for a Slow Hike and exploration of the Ice Age Trail at the Eau Claire Dells. We will meet at 10:00 am and be guided by one of our members as he takes us through a path of rock stairs and bridges and Pre-Cambrian rhyolite palisades (rock formations) along the rushing Eau Claire River. The Ice Age National Scenic Trail is a thousand-mile footpath tracing Ice Age formations across Wisconsin and the path fortuitously runs through Marathon County.

Participants can hike as long as they like - the full hike will be over an hour. Hikers who prefer a shorter distance have the option to turn back near the half way point.

Afterwards, we will gather in the shelter for a light luncheon and we ask that individuals bring a dish to share and something for themselves to drink. We are thinking of a French style picnic - baguettes, hard cheeses, cured meats, olives, and wine - but you are welcome to bring a seasonal inspired dish of your own creation!

This event is free and open to the public.
